Champion 3-year-old Filly: Rachel Alexandra Champion Older Mare: Zenyatta
2009 Horse of the Year - Rachel Alexandra. 130 votes to 99 votes.
They are both set to run again this year. Cheers to the girls!
Although I enjoy watching Zenyata race. I was happy when it looked like they were going to permanently retire her. Seems like a rather large gamble with her health and well being to return her to racing.
Public sentiment, for a match race between Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta, as it has in the past, will prevail - won't it! Because, ultimately, that is who pays the bills - 'the public!'
